Top hospitality tech trends to watch for 2023

As we approach the end of the first month of 2023, we thought now would be a good time to take the annual look at the several technology trends that are poised to have a significant impact on the hospitality industry. Here are some of the top trends to watch for in the coming year:

Contactless technologies

Contactless technologies such as mobile ordering and payment (of course), QR code menus, and contactless check-in and check-out will become increasingly important. These technologies have come to be expected following the end of the pandemic, and allow customers to interact with businesses in a smooth and convenient way, while also reducing wait times and poor experiences.

AI and automation

Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation will continue to play a big role in the hospitality industry. From chatbots to assist with customer service to automated inventory management systems, these technologies can help to improve efficiency and reduce costs for businesses, at a time when costs of everything from staff to electricity are currently extremely high.

Virtual and augmented reality

Virtual and augmented reality technologies can help to enhance the customer experience, by allowing customers to preview rooms, explore menus and more. These technologies can also be used to create virtual tours and experiences that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home. We’re personally looking forward to seeing this one evolve!

IoT and smart buildings

The Internet of Things (IoT) and smart building technologies are becoming more prevalent in the hospitality industry. These technologies allow for greater control and automation of building systems such as lighting, heating, and air conditioning, which can help to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.

Personalization and data analytics

Personalization and data analytics will continue to be important in the hospitality industry. By using data to understand customer preferences and behavior, businesses can create more personalised experiences and offers, which will lead to increased customer loyalty, increased repeat business, and an increase in revenue.

What are your thoughts? Is there anything else out there that you can see making waves across the industry this year?

As we know, the pandemic saw us as an industry experience a decades worth of technological development in just 2 years, and now it seems we’re beginning to really see the results and reap the rewards. It’s been a tough few years for us hospitality folk, but with these technologies now coming into place, it’s feeling like good times are on the horizon!
